Simple Puttanesca Sauce

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 (28 ounce) cans whole italian plum tomatoes
  • 1 (16 ounce) can whole pitted black olives, drained
  • 4 tablespoons capers, drained
  • 6 fresh basil leaves, chopped
  • 1 pinch red pepper flakes

Recipe

  • 1 heat oil and saute garlic until softened and golden brown.
  • 2 add tomatoes and simmer for 10 minutes.
  • 3 add remaining ingredients and simmer, uncovered, for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, or until sauce has thickened.
